Authorities in Cobb County continue investigating a shooting Saturday night in-which one man was shot and wounded by police outside a Shell station. Percy Williams says he was in the back seat of the vehicle when police pulled up behind them “I guess they’d been watching the guys I was with” says Williams. Shots rang out, according to Williams, when the car rolled towards an officer. According to Williams, he was only in the car to get beer. And, while the two other men, including the injured driver, ran to a nearby hotel, Williams says “I stayed in the back seat”. The runners were captured.
Wade Boaz of Woodstock says that he was inside the Shell, located near I-75 on Windy Hill Road, when it happened. “It was pretty bad”, says Boaz, “I’m just thankful that I didn’t get hit.”
Cobb County resident Ann Redmon had no idea what had happened just hours before at the nearby Shell station. The business is just up the hill from Pappadeaux’s Restaurant, where the week before, a man out celebrating his wife’s birthday, was shot and killed in an apparent robbery. His wife of 25 years was injured in the shooting. Says Redmon, “At no point should a life be lost. It’s unfortunate that crime has become common. It’s scary, very scary.”
