When the Mercedes-Benz Stadium opens in Atlanta in 2017, it will become the new home of the Atlanta Falcons. It will replace what has been home to the football team since 1992, the Georgia Dome. The new stadium is not only designed to host the Falcons and other events but, according to Senior Vice President of Fan Experience Mike Gomes, it will also “deliver the ultimate fan experience”.
According to Gomes, “fans will find that their entire game day, from the moment they leave for the game to the moment they return home, will be unparalleled”. The entryway into Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Gomes says, will have 40 percent more capacity, compared to the Georgia Dome. He says that technology is another big change, including the 1800 wireless access points, 2000 HD TVs throughout, and mobile phone charging available in all suites, clubs, and general admission areas. As for the food and beverage, Gomes says the new stadium will include local and national eateries, with the new fan-first pricing.
