As Breal Ellis was visiting her sister in the hospital following a near-fatal car accident, her “miracle babies” had taken their last breaths on a 90-plus-degree day in an SUV.
Alaynah and Ariel’s father was arrested on manslaughter charges this past Friday, and for the first time, Ellis decided to talk about her loss this morning.
“Sometimes it’s like, how can you live without the best thing that happened you?” she said between tears on The Ryan Cameron Morning Show with Wanda Smith. Her mother Vetia Holland kept handing her tissue as best friend Stephanie Clark flanked her other side, wrapping her arm around Ellis as she wiped her own tears with the other. Joining them were her father Chauncey Hill and his brother Hayward.
Together they were, in part, asking for assistance to bury the 16-month-old twin girls; but her uncle insisted, “prayer is what’s needed most.”
Alaynah and Ariel were born premature at six months, their mother recalled. And they spent their next four months in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, battling staph infections and more.
“So they were fighters from Day One,” Ryan noted. “From the moment they took their first breath.”
Their service will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Bethlehem Temple Church of a New Beginning in Carrollton, GA. Viewing will be Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Willie A. Watkins Funeral Home Carrollton Chapel, 602 Newnan Rd, Carrollton, GA 30117.
