The father of twin 16-month old girls is under arrest after the babies died after being left in a hot vehicle. Reports indicate that the little girls, Ariel and Alaynahwere North were found unresponsive outside an apartment home on Tillman Road around 6:30 Thursday evening. Police are quoted as saying that neighbors heard screams and saw the father, 24 year old Asa North running with the children. They say he placed the babies in an inflatable kiddie pool, with the help of neighbors who also put ice packs in the pool. North is charged with two counts each of involuntary manslaughter and reckless conduct. Police tell CBS46 that they do not believe that North left his daughters in the car intentionally. According to Carrollton Police Department Capt. Chris Dobbs, “It’s just a tragic situation, a sad situation for the whole family and for the community”. When it happened, reports indicate, the mother of the babies was at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta checking on her sister who had been involved in a car crash.
