Egypt: Should We Raise Our Little Girls To Be Like Kim Kardashian?
Should we raise our little girls to be like Kim Kardashian?
That’s the question debated by my production team in the studio this morning. My producer sided with Kanye West and Kim – and I clutched my pearls at the mere thought!
Some context: Jaws dropped at West’s most recent declaration that his soon-to-be wife Kim Kardashian is the most influential woman in the world.
“She is more influential than Michelle Obama and she is very talented at being beautiful.”
Of course the first response is to be appalled. But my producer challenged me to think outside the box.
Dare I say it? Kanye may have a point.
Despite being known mainly for her ASSets, truth be told she hasn’t dated many men compared to the average Hollywood starlet or even the average chick on the block. Yes there is a blemish on her record because of the Ray J sex tape. But who among us hasn’t dated a scrub?
Aside from her first marriage to Damon Thomas at the age of 19 (who by the way, was her first), she’s been linked to Reggie Bush (a long term relationship); had a second (seemingly 90-second) failed marriage to Kris Humphries; and is now engaged to her daughter’s father, West.
Statistics are that the average woman has 25 sexual partners in her lifetime. Considering that, Kardashian appears to be conservative. She’s not dated many men, and almost all of the ones she has dated have married or tried to take her to the alter.
Seems to me she has a great success rate. She has been able to secure a ring from more than one wealthy and successful man who appears to adore her.
Isn’t the American dream that we raise our little girls to choose their men wisely? And that we teach them to date to marry? If that is true, is she not living the American dream?
So playing devil’s advocate, perhaps Kim Kardashian is a pretty decent role model for little girls after all. (Smile and wink).
