While Lil Wayne‘s fans eagerly await the release of his tenth studio album, I Am Not A Human Being 2, the recent news of Weezy’s health problems have turned excitement for new music into anxiety over his condition.
But fans were not alone. Wayne’s colleagues were also on Weezy-watch, including IANHB2 feature artists, who hit Twitter to express their concern.
When Wayne was rushed to the hospital on March 12 after convulsing in seizures at a video shoot, he was released before heavy hand-wringing set in. Days later, it was reported that Wayne was readmitted and in the ICU. The news sent shock waves across the music world.
A tweet from the head of Wayne’s YMCMB label, Mack Maine, attempted to give hope to fans who got wind of a report from TMZ that the rapper was being read his last rites (a report the site deleted without comment). Maine insisted that “Wayne will update you all soon” and that “We watching the Syracuse game.”
Lil Wayne’s @LilTunechi account sent out a Tweet that elicited more questions: “I’m good everybody. Thx for the prayers and the love.”
Many of the members or Lil Wayne’s inner circle have remained relatively quiet on the matter, but several featured artists on his forthcoming IANHB2 album have given their reactions to the news.
On I Am Not A Human Being 2, 2 Chainz can be heard on ”Days and Days” and “Rich as F***”. Lil Wayne appeared on Playaz Circle‘s club hit, “Duffle Bag Boy,” where 2 Chainz, then Tity Boi, was largely introduced to the hip-hop masses. When he got the news, he offered a simple response to the matter.

He also turned the heat on the media for its part in disseminating the news, presumably the “last rites” report.
Media should be ashamed — Tity Boi (2 Chainz) (@2chainz) March 16, 2013
Soulja Boy, who appears on IANHB2‘s “Trigger Finger” retweeted the messages from Mack Maine’s and Lil Wayne’s accounts. He also added his own.
prayers for my brother. — Soulja Boy (@souljaboy) March 16, 2013
He later followed the Tweet with a more cryptic message.
There will always be things that we don’t want to happen, but will eventually have to accept. — Soulja Boy (@souljaboy) March 16, 2013
