High school football jumped off across Georgia Friday night and schools around the metro and surrounding areas took to the turf to face off and advance to the second round of the playoffs; and continue their journey to the state championship at the Georgia Dome!

Undefeated Region 6 champs M.L. King continued their win streak and will take on Allatoona next weekend, while Tucker – also from Region 6 – advanced with a win over Creekview. Meanwhile, Region 6’s SW Dekalb fell to Kell.

Gwinnett County represented in a big way with six schools from the county advancing to the second round, including last year’s state champs Grayson, who will go head-to-head with county mate North Gwinnett!

Another match-up that will feature two schools from Gwinnett County will be undefeated Norcross vs South Gwinnett. Parkview and Brookwood – also out of Gwinnett County – both advanced to next week’s second round of the playoffs. A battle of northside and southside will feature Lovejoy taking on Marietta. And finally, Region 3 champs Langston Hughes advanced with a win over Rockdale County, and will be graduating their first senior class in 2013.
