The FDA is warning consumers about a popular energy drink. Food and Drug Administration officials say a recent FDA filing included reports of 13 deaths over the last four years where the victim had taken Five-Hour Energy.

FDA officials say Five-Hour Energy has been mentioned in roughly 90 filings since 2009, including over 30 incidents that involved life-threatening injuries like heart attacks and convulsions. The distributor of Five-Hour Energy says the drink is safe when used as directed.

Monster Energy Drink has also been named in a lawsuit over the death of a 14 yr old girl.  A 24-ounce can of Monster Energy Drink supposedly has 240 mg of caffeine, approximately equivalent to seven cups of coffee.

But again energy drink makers say their product is safe if used as directed.
