Instead of being Superstar Usher in London right now – where he was scheduled to be on this election day – Citizen Usher scrapped all his overseas plans to be back in his hometown of Atlanta, “with all y’all that’s in traffic right now,” so he can vote.
“I’m here because my vote matters more than anything,” Usher told Frank and Wanda Morning Show on V-103/Atlanta.
As a coach on the TV show The Voice, Usher filed an absentee ballot from Los Angeles, where the show tapes. And while he was supposed to be in London for other business on election day, the seven-time Grammy winner said he skipped his trip to ensure that his vote would be counted.
“I was like, ‘Oh nah nah nah – Y’all not getting by with that one. Change everything…turn the plane around!’”
And it was with that same passion that Usher addressed a caller who said her boyfriend had yet to get up and vote in today’s presidential election. His message to the caller’s boyfriend was simple: “Get your *** up!”
