Kanye West has added Teyana Taylor to his G.O.O.D. Music family. As the first female artist to go G.O.O.D., she will join a growing roster that includes Q-Tip, Pusha T, Kid Cudi and Big Sean.
The news was announced by Island Def Jam/G.O.O.D. Music on Monday (May 14) and Taylor took to Twitter to share her new status:
“The First Lady of that G.O.O.D. S***,” she tweeted, along with an image from a stage-show where she and crew are standing in front of enlarged “G.O.O.D. Music” set piece.
Taylor, 21, was singed to Pharrell Williams’ Startrak imprint at age 15. The Harlem native had a buzz with her single “Google Me” from her 2008 debut album, A Planet Called Harlem. She has since put her song-writing skills to use, collaborating with Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Kanye West and others.
Taylor has also made a name for herself as a dancer and actor, with roles in Stomp the Yard 2 and in Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Big Happy Family. While there is no official word on when to expect her G.O.O.D. Music debut, her mixtape, The Misunderstanding of Teyana Taylor, dropped in March.
For now, she’s enjoying the good life and what comes with being a member of the brand that has earned a reputation for its creative vision.
