Egypt: It’s amazing how life can bring you full circle! When I was a teenager, my dream was to be an actress…actually an actrezzzzzz (super fabulous actress). I attended NYU’s Tisch School of Theater for a little over a year before my scholarship was yanked away – along with my big dreams of making it on Broadway.
(I always say that everything in life happens for a reason!)
Ultimately I wound up graduating from Temple University with a degree in broadcast journalism and a thirst for radio & television hosting.
After building a very successful radio career, I still felt a longing for theatrical arts. Four years ago I worked up the gumption to JUST GO FOR IT! So I enrolled in classes to brush up on my technique before I began the auditioning circuit.
Fast forward four years and here I am!
Today is the release of “Life Love Soul” by director Noel Calloway and I play the role of Carrie Turner, auntie to the lead character Roosevelt, who is played by a fresh new face Robbie Tate- Brickle. Words can’t begin to express how humbled yet excited I was to be a part of this amazing film with such a talented cast and crew.
The film also stars Terri Vaughn (“The Steve Harvey show), Jamie Hector & Chad Coleman (“The Wire”), Tami Roman (“Basketball Wives”) and a host of others.
Yesterday we were all featured on BET’s 106th & Park! Shouts to Rocsi & Pooch Hall for holding it down while Terrence J was away on promotion for his movie.
Check out the flicks both backstage and on set:
BTW – The answer is YES, Yandy Smith is six months pregnant and she’s over the moon about it! She’s also one of the producers of “Life Love Soul.”
