“Boxing has lost a great champion”-Manny Pacquiao

He will always be remembered as the man the handed Muhammad Ali his very first loss but never got the credit that he truly deserved as a boxer.

Smokin’ Joe Frazier fought many in battles in the ring but just a few weeks ago the former Olympic gold medalist and World Heavyweight Champion recently found out that he had one last battle to fight versus liver cancer, a fight that claimed his life last night in what seems like the blink of an eye.

Throughout his career Frazier was often undersized but made up for it with his skill set that included one of the most powerful left hooks in the business.

It was that same left hook that put Ali on the canvas in the first of three legendary fights including the epic Thrilla in Manilla.

Reaction to Frazier’s death have been very admirable including Floyd Mayweather announcing that he will pay for Smokin’ Joe’s funeral arraingements.

Muhammad Ali says he will always remember Frazier with respect and admiration.

George Foreman, who defeated Frazier during his career, said on Twitter, quote, “Good night Joe Frazier. I love you dear friend.”

Outside of the sports world, U.S. Senator John McCain said on Twitter, quote, “RIP Joe Frazier, one of the all-time greats.”  The man known as “Smokin’ Joe” lost his battle with liver cancer last night.

Fraizer was 67 years old.
