HBO’s True Blood has become one the most popular television/cable phenomenons the world has seen. Like a soap opera of vampires, the hit series has wowed audiences all over the world, and on today’s Powertalk w/ Lorraine Jacques White, we had one of the few African American cast members on the show!

Her name is Tanya Wright and many have seen her on HBO’s True Blood as Deputy Kenya Jones, but she’s been in the game for a minute on hit TV shows like The Cosby Show (as one of Theo’s girlfriends), ER, NYPD Blue, 24, and in movies like The Brothers, Mama Flora’s Family and countless others!

She’s written a new book called Butterfly Rising, which she’ll be discussing at the National Book Club Conference in Atlanta this weekend! Listen below to her conversation with Lorraine:
