Street Date Album Stream: Beyonce Continues Drive For Female Empowerment On New Album “4” – Listen Now

Each Tuesday our friends at Street Date bring us the low down on the hottest albums the very day they drop. Today they bring us a review AND the full stream of Beyonce’s latest hit.

You know the hits by heart already. “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It),” “Survivor” and “Irreplaceable” are just three of the many female empowerment songs that [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Beyonce[/lastfm] is responsible for.

It’s also one of the reasons she is a veritable powerhouse in pop music. So it wasn’t surprising when her first single off her fourth studio album 4 was a song championing women to take a stand with “Run The World (Girls).”

Click through now for a full album stream of [lastfm]Beyonce[/lastfm]’s 4 and catch her new videos for the singles “Run The World Girls” and “1-1.”

The early buzz on the street was that “Run The World Girls” might be a flop. However, 4definitely doesn’t fall flat.

It is, of course, predictably [lastfm]Beyonce[/lastfm] and perhaps the only problem is in the fact that she failed to take any risks, never leaving her comfort zone of love ballads and girl-power anthems. Still, the former member of [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Destiny’s Child[/lastfm] sticks with what she does best and you can’t fault her for that.

Hardcore fans of Beyonce will be pleased with 4 because they are getting exactly what they want from the songbird.

But will it be enough to compete with the other female heavy hitters also releasing albums this summer, including [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Lady Gaga[/lastfm] & [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Britney Spears[/lastfm]? We say don’t fret, because without a doubt you will hear “1-1,” “Countdown” and “End Of Time” nonstop at clubs and they’ll inspire you to get up and express yourself in the form of dance.

So will 4 do better than [lastfm]Beyonce[/lastfm]’s previous three blockbuster albums? Will it do better than all the other summer albums being released? You’ll have to tell us (leave a comment below, let us know what you think). One thing is for sure, [lastfm]Beyonce[/lastfm] knows what she’s doing in the studio and she’s going to keep on doing it.

I think most of us are having such a difficult time with this album because we can’t get past shaking our a** all the time. I personally am struggling with it myself, and I consider myself a HUGE B’ fan. I think if we strip ourselves and our ears of today’s saturation of sex and mindless lyrics to a “tight beat” and reaaaally listen to this album, we’ll find that Beyonce has officially catapulted herself into superstardom stratosphere. At the end of the day, this woman is hugely talented and will never succumb to the cookie-cutter, mainstream, here today-gone tomorrow pop tart charts. It’ll take me a little minute to get used to the ballads, but it is undeniably a sophisticated, talented work of art worth our attention… Let’s break from doin’ “it wit no hands” and “sex in the air (…I love the smell of it?)” and get to some real R&B for a minute.
